Ask an Audiologist – Comparing Hearing Aid Brands

After your hearing test has been completed your Audiologist or Hearing Instrument Specialist may confirm that you have a hearing loss. What follows is a hearing aid prescription – much like when you require glasses – that`s based on your level of loss, lifestyle and budget.

Hearing Solutions Audiology Manager and CASLPO registered Audiologist, Tracy Saunders, provides a straight to the point answer to a patient enquiring about what brand of hearing aid does the job.

Ask An Audiologist…

I know this question probably doesn’t have a clear answer, but I was wondering what your opinion was on what hearing aid performs better. I’m looking at purchasing either Oticon’s Nera2 Pro orPhonak’s Venture V70’s. I’m a first time user and thought maybe you might have some insight on the matter.

Audiologist Response…

Thank you for your enquiry.

Based on professional experience and familiarity with these assistive devices, in regards to performance, both brands of hearing aids are actually comparable.

I would suggest visiting a hearing loss clinic, where they can arrange a demonstration for both brands of hearing aids.

This may help you to make a better evaluation when comparing the two types of hearing aids, based on your own perception of the sound quality.

At Hearing Solutions, we would be able to arrange a free, no-obligation in-clinic demonstration, allowing you to try on both types of hearing aids.

If you would like to take advantage of this complimentary offer, you can CLICK HERE to contact a clinic closest to you, either via phone or to book an appointment online.

Thank you again for your enquiry and I hope we were able to be of assistance.

Best regards,

Tracy Saunders, M.Cl.Sc., Reg. CASLPO
